Behavioral targeting, search engine optimization and direct e-mail give more chances to ROI. That is what the latest investigation of MarketingSherpa concluded.
The ROI on payed search results and direct email of third parties is still ok, but a little less then past year.
The most important results :
-57 % of the respondents thought that search engine optimisation was the best online tactic in 2007. In 2006 that was only 45 %.
- E-mailmarketing with own addresses are commented by 47 % as a top tactic in 2007, in 2006 by 42 %.
- Behavioral targeting gives a better ROI than contextual targeting according to 44 % of the persons questioned. That is 10 % more than in 2006.
- Although payed search results remain important, the ROI devalues because of the higher keywordprices !
And the bad online tactics are .... :
- Rich Media , only 7 %thought it would have a good ROI
- Banners ! ( only 10 %)
- Pop-up / unders. No single marketeer saw a good ROI from the pop-ups !
